Holiday Stress? 3 Steps for Joy and Ease

The holiday season is upon us, and while it brings joy and cheer, it can also usher in some pesky challenges. With so many expectations of ourselves and others, it's easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle, forgetting what we truly want for ourselves. So let's reclaim this holiday season together! I've crafted a simple 3-step plan to help you quiet the noise and restore your peace.

Step 1: Find Your Feeling

Pause for a moment and ask yourself, "What do I want to feel this holiday season?" Is it calm, peace, joy, or gratitude? Personally, I'm choosing ease, as it aligns with my intention to feel more joy. Finding your desired feeling sets the stage for a fulfilling holiday experience.

Step 2: Make It Your Intention

Hold onto that chosen feeling as your guiding light throughout the holiday season. Make it your daily intention, allowing it to steer you back on track when things get hectic. Each morning, I ask myself, "How will I choose ease today?" This simple practice keeps me grounded and focused on what truly matters.

Step 3: Master the 3F’s

The holiday season often revolves around the 3F’s: Food, Family, and Finances. Rather than letting these areas overwhelm you, use them as opportunities to practice your intention.

- Food & Drink: It's easy to overindulge during the season, but you don't have to. Ask yourself, "What can I add more of or cut back on to stay in alignment with my intention?"

- Family & Friends: Before events and interactions, center yourself with your chosen intention. Ask, "Who do I want to connect with? What traditions are meaningful, and what no longer serves me?"

- Finances: Building connections doesn't mean breaking the bank. Before spending, remember your intention. Ask, "Is this a reasonable budget, and does it align with how I want to feel?"

Remember:

You get to choose how you feel and experience the holiday season.

Start small. Choose one way to align with your intention and build from there.

Be kind to yourself. Forgive bumps in the road and keep moving forward.

It's okay if things aren’t perfect. Take back your power by focusing on your intention, not unreasonable expectations.
